Methodology for Data Collection

We gathered statistics on the most popular apps and websites frequented by Traqq users by collecting data from almost 5,500 users who actively tracked their online work presence through Traqq.

The study covered the first six months of 2024. We zeroed in on specific June trends to perform a snapshot study by extracting data from the Traqq database and using the data from active users only.

Communication tools usage in June 2024

In June 2024, Traqq users devoted approximately 14% of their time to communication apps and websites such as Slack, Skype, WhatsApp, Discord, Zoom, Gmail, and Outlook. The analysis below shows the distribution of usage across these tools.

Programming tools usage in June 2024

Programming-related tools, including Visual Studio Code and PHPStorm, accounted for roughly 6% of their total online time.

A clear leader is Visual Studio Code with 77.5%, followed by Microsoft Visual Studio, accounting for 8.8%. The other two are PHPStorm with an 8.6 percent share, the rest accounting for other programming software. 

Design tools usage in June 2024

Design tools are the bread and butter of creative and technical professionals engaged in the creation of high-quality visual content, UI, and architectural designs.

Users reviewed dedicated about 5% of the total time to design-related apps and sites, such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. In this section, we are presenting the breakdown of time spent on various design tools, highlighting user preferences and the relative importance of each platform.

Adobe Creative Suite holds the first place with 44.6% of the total design time, underscoring its central role in handling professional design tasks. With 24.3%, Figma, popular in collaborative design projects, comes in second. Canva, a platform used primarily for quick, template-based design, accounts for 11.4% of the time. AutoCAD, a tool essential for technical and architectural design professionals, takes 10.4% of the total time. Other design tools collectively account for the remaining 8.9%. 

Task management and productivity software usage in June 2024

In June 2024, Traqq users allocated close to 5% of their total work time to productivity and task management tools, proving their importance in organizing work processes and enhancing efficiency.

The following analysis shows the distribution of time spent on various task management and productivity software.

Per the chart, Google Calendar leads with 32% of the total time, followed by Trello, a popular task organization and project tracking tool, with 25%. ClickUp, a universal project management platform, accounts for 22% of the time. Asana, a similar project management tool, represents 11% of the total,  while Notion, a note-taking and task management tool, takes the remaining 10%. 

Ecosystem usage: Google vs. Microsoft in June 2024

Our research points at the active use of software ecosystems. The Google ecosystem is a leader with 15% of total time spent.

The preference is primarily attributed to the extensive use of Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Meet.

In comparison, the Microsoft ecosystem accounted for 7% of the total usage, with substantial time dedicated to Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word. 

Conclusion

This study gives an informed idea about how Traqq users distribute their time across various digital tools. As far as communication tools go, around 14% go to Slack and Gmail, the tools responsible for seamless interaction. Visual Studio Code and Adobe Creative Suite, take 6% and 5% of total time Traqq users dedicated to programming. Google Calendar and Trello, the workflow organizing platforms, also account for 5% of time spent. The research clearly shows Google’s ecosystem as a hands-down winner, with 15% of total time, compared to Microsoft’s 7%.
